LOTTA WÄSTERLID ZMUDA-TRZEBIATOWSKI

Currently I am working on an exhibition about Freedom, what it is. I have asked my friends to give their definitions and they have. Next saturday I have my studio open for those who are interested. Please come! it is the 28th of May , Cigarrvägen 14 in Hökarängen.

I am educated in England but live and work in Stockholm. 

I have the last years been working examining the term the male gaze.

A series of questions has then been rasied that i found very interesting.

Questions like: What can we find if we look beyond the male gaze? Is it possible to go beyond it? Is it even possible to be without it? To get rid of it? What happens in that case? When is that? Do we want it? What does it feel like? Who are we without it?  

My intention is to keep on examine this subject and keep rasing questions around it.

I paint. I draw. I make prints. And I write.

I like to observe my surroundings and draw and paint what I see, I take photgraph or find images in magazines and newpapers. It is mostly people and urban landscapes that attractes my interest. I then use all these images and thoughts I get from observing  it all into the canvas or piece of wood I work on to make new more complex images and it all kind of evolves to a new question or thought.

I did my BA in Cornwall in the UK, Falmouth College of Art and Design.
